And so it goes, this is my very first blog post!!
Here it goes-
I am laying in bed thinking about this blog, how personal I should be, what I should share and what exactly all of this is going to be about......I should first fill you in about my little family. I'm Jennifer and I am married to my husband Aaron- we tied the knot in 2004 after a few years of dating. In 2006 our little bundle of joy entered the world, Ethan, He is 6 and a wonder of life. We love him more then the world by the way. I am proud to say, he just finished Kindergarden which was an experience in itself. He did wonderfully and is very ready to start 1st grade in the fall. Is mommy ready? Now that is another question. Along with our son Ethan we have 1 dog, Macey a cat, Miss Kitty and I must not forget our hamster Cecil. He is the smallest known hamster breed which is pretty much why I got him. The less poop the better in this house....
Since I am 37 there is a thought of a second child however there are a lot of things about that decision that need to be considered. Can't talk about all of this now or else the blog will have one and only post.....
Like every family we have our ups and downs- lately seems like more of the "down" side but I know that things will be looking up soon.
For my work life, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with adults who are on Workers Compensation as a mental health therapist- this is a new job in the counseling field for me. My former work (yet still close to my heart) included working with children who were adopted. I was a post- adoption counselor. I also completed home studies and post placement visits for adoptive families. This would make me a Certified Adoption Assessor. For the past 12 years my concentration has been trying to help families get into a better place. Heck, even before that I had it in my mind that I was going to help families in one way or another.
In my home/family life, I am a happy mommy, wife, daughter, sister and friend. I have some things that I believe strongly about including family, education about mental health, cancer prevention and working together to build a better community. I feel like I do some of this with my occupation but know I would love to do so much more.
Like everyone I am dealing with problems- my mom has been fighting cancer *around here it is better termed as the *C* word- for about 8 years. She had breast cancer and is now fighting the terrible disease of Ovarian cancer.
So through this blog, I hope to get to know some people and I hope so me people get to know me. I would also like to begin the journey of getting to know myself even better.
